RSS is awesome

If you’re new to RSS, here's how to follow thriftmac the free-Mac-app way.

First, download one of these free Mac apps. Both have been around for a long time and have a good reputation.

NetNewsWire has a plus sign at the top of the left sidebar. Click on this and choose New Feed... This opens a dialog box where you type in the URL of the site you want to follow. In this case, it would be thriftmac.com. Don’t worry about the rest for now. Click the Add button and wait for NetNewsWire to find the RSS feed. That's all there is to it.

Vienna works the same way except that you add a feed by clicking on an RSS symbol with a plus sign beside it. From there, choose New Subscription... Type thriftmac.com into the dialog and click Subscribe.

These instructions work for pretty much all websites. There are some that do not have an RSS feed, usually because they prefer that you go to their site. Sometimes, it may be a matter of the owner not knowing about RSS. If you think that is the case, contact them about it.
